Za regeneraciju otpadnih ulja koristi se više tehnoloških postupaka koji se procesno - tehnički prilagođavaju konkretnim karakteristikama različitih otpadnih ulja. Kod odabira postupka pored ekološkog aspekta nužno je voditi računa i o ekonomskim efektima. U traganju za ekološki efikasnijim i troškovno prihvatljivijim postupcima uključio se i Energoinvest.
U Energoinvestu su vršena istraživanja korištenja ozona za prečišćavanje otpadnih ulja. Istraživanja su u konačnici vršena i na uvećanom laboratorijskom eksperimentalnom postrojenju (sa reaktorom zapremine 23 litra).
Nakon obrade/tretmana ozonom dobijeno je ulje nivoa kvaliteta baznog ulja, koje se može koristiti i kao ekološki prihvatljivo gorivo.
Energoinvest je u 2002. godini projektovao istraživačko - demonstraciono postrojenje (sa reaktorom zapremine 1000 I) koje će poslužiti i za dalja i detaljnija istraživanja.
U radu se, pored osvrta na uticaj otpadnih ulja na okolinu i kraćeg opisa postrojenja, navode osnovne osobine ozona i dva glavna mehanizma reakcije ozona sa specifičnim grupama u organskim spojevima

Several technological procedures are used for regeneration of waste oils.
Processing and technical characteristics of these procedures change
depending on the type of vvaste oils they are applied to. In deciding on the
procedure to be applied, one has to consider not only ecological, but also
economic aspects.
Energoinvest has been working on developing economically sound and ecologically safe procedures and its research included the application of ozone for regeneration of vvaste oils. The final phase of the laboratory research had been counted in an enlarged experimental installation (with reactors volume at 23 liters).
The product had the quality of base oil, which can also be used as ecologically
safe fuel.
For that purpose, Energoinvest designed a experimental-demo-pilot plant (with reactors volume at 1000 liters) that will be used for further, more detailed research.
A part from a review of the effects of vvaste oils on environment and a short presentation of the installation, this study also includes presentation of the key characteristics of ozone and the two essential mechanisms of its reactions with specific groups in organic chemical bounds.
